consists of a 750m pool swim (30 lengths x 25m). The transition area is
highlighted below in orange. There you will change where the bikes are
racked and then proceed on foot to the first set of cones. There you will mount
your bike and cycle towards the roundabout starting the 20km cycle.
There will usually be a Police Marshal to stop oncoming traffic to allow you to
proceed across the roundabout (please obey the police if they require you to stop).
The course continues towards the railway station/police station with the
Caithness General Hospital on the left hand side. Take a right at the
next junction, which will also be marshalled. Continue out of the town
past Milton and Haster then on to Bilbster. A marshal will be clearly
visible to direct your turning point. Proceed back to Wick following the
same outward route back to the swimming pool and make the transition to the run
there. Part of the transition process is to rack your bike without
assistance.
The 5km run route is highlighted in yellow and consists of three 1 mile laps. Please follow yellow marked route keeping to the left hand side of the road at all times to avoid possible collision with cyclists. There will be marshals at each corner/junction to direct you.
